Our Holiday Cottages are best suited to older children (say 10 years plus) as there is no garden for little ones to run around and play in, and the Cottages themselves have hard floors and fireplaces. We do, however, have small amount of outside space at the back of the Cottages, with patio tables & chairs for you to enjoy warm weather.
Family-friendly Facilities at the Cottages
We provide a few extra things at the Cottages - such as Card and board games, plus a selection of books and DVD films - to entertain your children.
All the Cottages have a bath, and a shower over the bath, and both the 2 bedroom Cottages (Flint Cottage and Corner Cottage) have an extra TV in one of their bedrooms - for DVD watching, or connecting a PlayStation or X-Box Gaming. Teenagers can rest assured that all of the Cottages have free, unlimited, (Fibre) Broadband WiFi! View our Cottages to find out more... Corner Cottage, Flint Cottage and Chapel Cottage.
The adventure playground in Carlton Country Park (just 10 mins walk from the cottages), with slide, rope-swings, and zip-wire, is always a favourite! It's suitable for a wide age-range, from small children to teenagers – and hugely popular!
Want to bring your dog too? We know that beloved pets are also part of the family, so we welcome small and well-behaved family pets. Find out more on the Pets page...
Family Holiday Activities
What to do with the kids – to keep them occupied…and having fun!
Of course, you’ll want to make most of what the region has to offer – the sea, beaches, countryside, woodlands, and inland waterways… Try woodland walks, Nature Trails, and wildlife spotting; take them rowing, canoeing or sailing. Cycling is an activity for the whole family too, and boating trips are great fun. Plus, go on picnics - packing all their favourites!
Or, just enjoy the seaside, and being on the beach -
. eat fish ‘n’ chips (from the paper!)
. build sandcastles
. fly a kite
. play ball games - such as football, rounders, or beach cricket.
. have a swim in the sea, or just take your shoes off and paddle along the shoreline.
And, don’t forget crabbing! Good fun for children, all year round! You just need a crabbing line, small bucket, and some streaky bacon. Lines and buckets can be bought from various shops and kiosks in the seaside towns. Popular crabbing locations are off the quay at Orford, the Pier at Southwold, and the bridges at Walberswick - but there are lots of other places too.
